Terms of Use

Last updated: 9 July 2026

Cito is a semantic search engine for academic papers, operated by FIM. By using the website or API you agree to these terms.

The service

Cito helps you find academic papers by meaning and keywords. It is provided on an as-is basis and may change or be unavailable at times. Search results and metadata are provided for research and informational purposes.

Acceptable use

Use Cito for lawful research and discovery. Do not attempt to overwhelm the service, bypass rate limits, or scrape at volume beyond your allotted limits. We may throttle or suspend access that harms the service or other users.

API keys

Keep your API keys secret. You are responsible for all activity under your keys. If a key is exposed, revoke it from your account page and create a new one.

Attribution

Paper data comes from Semantic Scholar (ODC-BY / Apache-2.0). If you surface results to others, keep a "Data from Semantic Scholar" credit and cite papers by their DOI and authors.

No warranty; liability

Cito is provided without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, FIM is not liable for damages arising from use of the service or reliance on its results. Verify important findings against primary sources.

Changes

We may update these terms; continued use after a change means you accept it.
